Pentecost Prep

Now in Eastertide looking and longing for the joy, exuberance and surprise of the coming of the Holy Spirit to empower and equip the church for the work and ministry of following and sharing Christ with an unbelieving and hungry world.

Look back survey of past Pentecost celebrations:

Flames of fire mobiles Flames of Fire Mobiles - 2009 -

Cross Sunburst Sunburst Ribbons and the Mosaic Cross - 2011 -
Wind panels Wind of the Spirit - 2011 -
These Holy Spirit inspired panels by Kristen Terry are foundational for our parishes' appetite and investment in #RestoArts. The blazing energy and sweeping scope her three panel sequence explored the power of the Spirit manifested through fire and wind. They wrapped the sanctuary, a visual depiction of the enveloping presence of the Holy Spirit to saturate and surround us. Held by fishing line and prayer, these panels fueled both the ministry and momentum to use cooperate artistic talents to bring beauty into our worship spaces. This was a foundational exploration for our parish on how the arts can draw us closer to our Creator.

Further posts will explore the story of these panels. For now it’s a delight to share them again, as well as remember that they are scattered throughout Arlington (even now), reminding us of the impact and empowerment of the Spirit to fill us for the work of Christ in our daily tasks among our neighbors and families.
